MAFPA Activities and EventsMonadnock Area Foster Parent Association plays a big part in foster parent recruitment, working together with our NH Division for Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) foster care worker and agency staff. We sponsor recruitment booths at area events, write letters to the editor supporting foster parenting and talk to our neighbors, friends and co-workers about the value of foster parenting and its impact on children and families. All licensed or permitted foster parents automatically become members of MAFPA as are all (DCYF) foster-adoptive parents, whether still active or not. Agency staff and interested community members are also allowed to become members upon application. The DCYF foster parent pre-licensing training classes are well attended in our area and most complete the licensing process. The free training classes are offered by each of the 12 DCYF offices across the state. MAFPA also holds an auction every year as our major fund-raising activity. These activities help us raise money for our Annual Christmas/Holiday party for the children and to support other child-centered activities of the association. Upcoming events and activities: Date Savers: 8/24 - MAFPA Family Fun Day, Wheelock Park 10/24 - Pumpkin Carving - DCYF 12/7 - MAFPA Christmas Party - East Hill Farm **MAFPA meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Village Church in W. Swanzey at 6:30 PM. All MAFPA members are invited to attend. **The MAFPA Support Group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Colony Mill at 6:30 PM. All MAFPA members are encouraged to attend.
Our Foster Parent Recruitment & Retention Team meets 4 times a year. If you are a MAFPA member or interested community member, contact Nancy Goodell, the DCYF Foster Care Worker to join at 1-800-624-9700, ext. 789 For more information on any of these events and activities contact Bernie Beaulieu, MAFPA President
